OGE Publishes a Final Rule and Legal Advisory on Modernization Updates to the Standards of Ethical Conduct for Employees of the Executive Branch

The U.S. Office of Government Ethics (OGE) has published a final rule revising the Standards of Ethical Conduct for Employees of the Executive Branch (5 C.F.R. part 2635). The final rule incorporates past interpretive guidance, improves clarity, modernizes regulatory examples to make them more relevant and inclusive, updates citations, and corrects technical deficiencies.

The final rule will become effective on August 15, 2024. Along with the publication of this final rule, OGE has issued a Legal Advisory to highlight some of the notable updates which will be going into effect.
