During my confirmation hearing to become the Director of the Office of Government Ethics, I shared with Congress my intention to meet with the heads of executive branch agencies to convey the importance of ethical leadership. I have recently begun holding these important meetings.
In the last few weeks, I’ve met with the Secretaries of the Departments of Defense, Health and Human Services, Housing and Urban Development, and Transportation.
During these meetings I stated my view that strong leadership is essential for ethical and resilient organizations. I shared OGE’s willingness to support agency leaders and their agencies’ ethics programs, and asked for their support and commitment to the ethical culture within their organizations.
In the coming months I will continue to meet with senior government leaders regarding ethics. I will keep you, the public, informed as I do so.
